Temanggung (ANTARA) - Tea made from the skin of Arabica coffee beans (cascara) from Kledung, Temanggung Regency, Central Java, is in demand by Malaysian consumers, said the owner of CV Kwadungan Java Coffee (KJC) Zaenal Arifin.Zaenal in Temanggung, Thursday, said there was a demand for cascara from Malaysian importers amounting to 8.5 tons.

Apart from Malaysia, he said there was also a request from Dubai, but it was only an exploratory request of 2.5 quintals.He said the price of exported coffee skin tea was around IDR 70,000 per kilogram.Regarding coffee exports, he said that this month there had been incoming requests, namely from Morocco and Türkiye."It's possible that it can be sent after Eid, because during the fasting month, it's a shame about the energy," he said.According to him, finding export quality coffee is currently quite difficult, because Temanggung coffee also has many fans from within the country."So the demand for Temanggung coffee domestically is also high, even local demand is also very high," he said.Head of the Food Security, Agriculture, and Fisheries Service of Temanggung Regency, Joko Budi Nuryanto, said that to meet the increasing demand, it is indeed his duty to continue to increase the number of coffee plants."However, it is not only about increasing the number of plants, but also urging farmers to rejuvenate old plants because their productivity has decreased," he said.
